Eucomed press release 11/08 - The Recast of the Medical Devices Directives: Eucomed agrees next steps at MedTech Forum 2008 conference

Brussels, 15 October 2008. Eucomed, the voice of medical technology in Europe yesterday agreed its next steps following the joint industry response to the Recast of the Medical Devices Directives in July. Eucomed’s objective is to further engage with the Commission in a constructive dialogue to address the identified concerns with solutions that are supportive of innovation and patient safety.

The next steps are based on the following elements:

Immediately following the MedTech Forum Eucomed will seek meetings with the Commission in order to promote collaborative and fruitful discussions. The ultimate aim is to work together to create a predictable, sustainable and appropriate regulatory environment This environment must support patient access to safe and effective technology whilst stimulating innovation and further enhancing European competitiveness.
